March 14th at 4PM (Doors open at 3 PM)
In memory of the March 11th, 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami, we are having a film screening of a number of films we made after 3.11. Our first film was shot in Ishinomaki in October of the same year. We visited the people in our first film every year until Covid. We made another film one year later, and another the following year. We also ventured into Fukushima to film in the exclusion zone around the plant and tell the stories of the people who stayed. Later, we went back to find people finding a way to laugh, and to cry.
We will be joined by Jeffrey Jousan, Ivan Kovak and Paul Richard Johanessenn. Three good friends who made these films. Paul will be Zooming in from Norway and Ivan will be at the studio. We will show our films then share some of our thoughts and experiences. At the end we will take questions in person or by YouTube chat.
Even a few months after the disaster, survivors were saying "Don't forget me". Now, 15 years later, have we forgotten them?
You are always invited to come in person but you can also watch on YouTube
You can also watch the films at the links below.
