About the Human Arts Studio

Audio and Video Production

The Human Arts Studio is an audio and video production studio and multi-use rental space located in Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan close to the Tsukuba Express, Midorino Station and a 45 minute ride to Akihabara in Tokyo. We have recently moved to a much larger, new location with a soundproof Main Hall, Studio J, an acoustically treated recording room, and the Sunset Space, a kitchen/bath space and 16 meter wide deck with stunning sunset views. The Main Hall is 9 meters deep, 7 meters wide (63m²) and 4.2 meters high with excellent acoustics for recording, mixing and video production with live sound. The Studio J sound booth was acoustically treated by the great Sam Toyoshima. 

Multi-use Space

We have designed the Human Arts Studio to be modular so that the space can be used in a multitude of ways. The work we have done on the soundproofing seals the room from the outside world, not only keeping out noise but also light, heat, cold and humidity making the spacious Main Hall a pleasant place to be, work and create. We have many ideas about how the space can be used beyond audio and video production. Watching movies on our 200 inch screen, listening to records on our audiophile electrostatic speaker system, ping pong tournaments, live streaming of podcasts, Yoga and meditation, theatrical and dance performances, seminars and training sessions... and the list goes on and go. We are excited to see how our space inspires you to use it in creative ways that we have not even imagined yet. 

Dedicated Electrical System

Since we first started at the original Studio J, we have know that clean electricity and grounding can drastically improve the sound quality. We have been working with the president of Izumi Denki Corp., Sumio Shimamoto, audio electricity specialist and power amp designer for 15 years. Every time he visits, he makes updates to the electricity and every time it sounds like we got a gear upgrade. For the Human Arts Studio he has set us up with the ultimate electrical system which is the outcome of his many years of experience with electricity for audio. An audiophile grade electrical system with with exceptional 2.5 Ohm grounding, custom designed Rhodium circuit breakers, a dedicated high voltage transformer pole and custom made polymer outlets for a noise-free, incredibly clear and natural sound that you will not find in other studios. Shimamoto san says that this is the best he can make, the cutting edge!
